The New "Old Fashioned" Neighborhoods
Remember…kids playing sandlot baseball 'til dusk, adults visiting on the front porch and families sharing lives with each other?
The Old is New Again…
A growing desire among homeowners to live in new developments that promote community has led to the resurgence of "old fashioned" neighborhoods.
Reminiscent of simpler times, neighborhoods now have the look and feel of days long ago. With rustic streetlamps, back alleys and classically designed homes, you will find driving through communities such as Stonemill Farms in Woodbury or Victor Gardens in Hugo is a "blast from the past."
Developers competing for homebuyers are offering imaginative themes and incredible community features. With retail shops, a large central park, hockey rink, swimming pool, fitness area, movie theatre, hiking trails and clubhouse, developments like Stonemill Farms could easily be mistaken for a small town.
Once a centerpiece of American culture, our busy lifestyles have allowed us to lose sight of the neighborhoods of old. We've even lost track of the people who live next door by staying within our property lines, offering merely a wave as we drive into our garages and close the door. Thankfully, some innovative developers have seen what is missing in our lives and are now encouraging us to mix and mingle again. Welcome back to the neighborhood, America.
