Attracting Buyers in a Competitive Market
Okay, so there's more competition in the existing home market today. But that shouldn't scare you away if you're ready to move up or build a new home. Homes are still selling within 90 days on average. You just have to do a little more homework to ensure a sale at the price you want. Here are some suggestions:
Hire a Professional Realtor®. The sale of your home involves one of the largest financial transactions most people make in a lifetime. A professional Realtor® can help you determine your listing price, promote your home in a variety of ways, and provide all of the necessary services to bring the sale to a successful closing.
Hire a Realtor®. Yes, "hire." Interview agents as if you were the employer. After all, he or she will be working for you. Choose an experienced, dedicated, fulltime agent with a good track record and the knowledge to guide you through the transaction. Ask for references, and call them.
Price it Right. This is where your agent can offer the greatest help. By being aware of other comparable homes on the market, you can price it competitively. Remember to consider the broader Twin Cities market, too. Prospective buyers are willing to travel longer distances to get the home they want at a price they can afford.
Dress it Up. Especially in this competitive market, it's a point that can't be stressed too much. Your home should be in excellent condition inside and out. Because you are also competing with new construction, everything should be perfect and ready to move in. Ask your Realtor® for additional advice, too.
Real estate is and will continue to be one the best investments people can make. There are plenty of buyers out there looking to make an investment in the home of their dreams. Maybe it will be yours.
